What's On Your Mind?

Did you know that humans have thousands of thoughts every day?

And yet...many of us don't even know what we're thinking at any given moment. When is the last time you stopped and paid attention to the thoughts running through your mind? Ask yourself simply, "what am I thinking right now?" Pay attention to the thoughts that arise. When you pause to observe what you're thinking, you'll better understand how you're feeling. Your thoughts create your feelings. How are you feeling? When you start paying attention to what you're thinking, you may realize that you're stuck in negative thought cycles. You beat yourself up. You put yourself down. You're mean to yourself. No wonder you feel terrible!

It all starts with your thoughts. The good news is, you are 100% capable of choosing what you want to think. This is a process and it takes practice. The first step is to pay attention to the automatic thoughts running through your mind. Take a look at your thoughts. Be curious about them. Question them. Is this a thought you want to keep? Is it useful? If not...let it go. When it comes up again...see it...notice it and then...let it go. With practice, you'll gain awareness of your thoughts and learn to manage your mind.
