In order to create something you have never created, you must do things you have never done before.
The idea of creating and accomplishing a goal is so inspiring. You’ve probably heard quotes like: “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” - Eleanor Roosevelt or “The biggest adventure you can ever take is to live the life of your dreams.” - Oprah These thoughts open us up to think bigger. Think of your business. It all started from an idea of what was possible. Embarking on making that possibility a reality, comes with a lot of things that are new to you. In order to create something you have never created, you must do things you have never done before. And, that stretches us! Here’s 5 tips to keep you moving in the right direction to achieve your goals. 1 - Just start! There’s never going to be a perfect time to start. Don’t put it off, just get moving right now. The momentum you create by starting now will help you keep moving in the right direction down the road. 2 - Committ. There will most likely be some difficulty and overwhelm that shows up in any goal. This is when you’ll want to quit. Just remember the grind won’t last forever; and it’s on the other side that you get what you really want. 3 - Be consistent. Doing the easy little things consistently is what creates the biggest results. Pick that one thing. Show up for that one thing consistently. In the book, Atomic Habits, James Clear teaches that, “Small choices don't make much of a difference at the time, but add up over the long-term. If you get one percent better each day for one year, you'll end up thirty-seven times better by the time you’re done.” 4 - Be patient. I know… not what you want to hear. We live in a world where we wait less than anyone in human history. We have on-demand movies, fast food, and access to the entirety of the world at our fingertips through the internet. To achieve your goals, you have to be patient and give it however much time it takes. 5 - Make it fun! It’s so much easier to keep doing the things we enjoy. Be creative. Find ways to make each step of the process fun. If you make it fun, it’ll be easier to jump in and start, commit to your goal, be consistent, and be patient. These 5 steps work on any goal, big or small. In fact, sometimes it’s best to start with something small that can give you a quick win. The process of getting to that small win helps you develop the skill of goal achievement, which you can apply and build on for your next goal. Good luck!
